Pyramiden, a once-thriving Soviet coal mining town on the remote Norwegian island of Svalbard, tells a story of ambition, decline, and haunting abandonment.\n\nIn 1910, the Swedes established this town to house workers from a nearby mine. Named after the mountain\u2019s pyramid-like shape, Pyramiden stood as a testament to human industry. However, with falling coal prices, mounting costs, and the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the town\u2019s fate was sealed. A tragic plane crash in 1996, which claimed the lives of coal miners, marked the beginning of the end. By 1998, Pyramiden was abandoned, and since then, the city has remained a frozen relic of the past, untouched by time but slowly succumbing to the elements.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Today, the future of Pyramiden remains uncertain, with access further limited due to international sanctions on Russia.
